The Museum of Art and Design, New York recently commissioned me to make a Valentines Day pin for former secretary of state, Madeleine Albright. There was a show at M.A.D. that just closed, displaying her amazing jewelry collection. Included in the exhibition was a heart shaped pin that one of Albright’s daughter’s made for her years ago. She always wears this pin on Valentines day. Since the show is traveling, M.A.D. thought it would be a nice gesture to give her another heart shaped pin to wear, while the show is on view.
Madeleine Albright’s book “Read My Pins” speaks about how she used her pins as a way to express her moods, and as a “diplomatic tool”.
This was a fun little project. I am honored to be in Madeleine Albright’s jewelry collection.
